Year 1900
The building located at 1 Mitropoliei Street in Sibiu is a structure with a rich history, reflecting the urban and economic evolution of the city.
History
Built in 1898 by Adolf Reissenberger, the building was erected on the site of two former properties that belonged to the same owner. Initially, the ground floor hosted the store of the Munk A. & A. Zimmermann company.
After World War I, it was replaced by the Ferdinand Friedmann shoe store. In 1925, the building was purchased by Banca Oașia, which established its headquarters there. Also, in this location operated the Brădetul Tourism Society, known for building the Fântânele cabin in 1937.
Architecture
The building is representative of the eclectic-historicist architectural style of the late 19th century, with neoclassical and baroque influences. The facade is decorated with ornamental elements specific to the period, and the structure reflects its mixed-use functionality, combining commercial spaces on the ground floor with apartments or offices on the upper floor.
